Project Overview

TipTree had a user dash in place already but it was causing user confusion and they found users didn't understand what TipTree fully had to offer which lead to users discontinuing their subscription. Users felt this platform seemed to be a glorified Tip Jar rather than a powerful CMS tool.

This process needed to do a deep dive into the frustrations of current subscribers so we put together a forum for current users to meet and I put together an extensive questionnaire to better understand pain points and how to best tackle these problems in the redesign.

Process Overview

Focus Group: We gathered a group of 20 current subscribers in a conference room and I began the questionnaire process. I found users were confused by the overall dash set up and didn't understand the full potential of their TipTree subscription. Users were surprised to find they could put together landing pages and host them on the platform, they could add merchandise to sell, collect fan data and use it for an email campaign, and create a playlist for fans to request songs.

User Experience: With this new information, I created a wireframe that walked through each flow of this user dash.

User Interface: After the flow was established with the wireframe, I then added in the visual design elements. This was sent out to the 20 subscribers in the focus group for testing. During this phase we discovered users were happier not only with the flow, but with the added video tutorials and call outs that further explained why a feature could help them in their music career.

No items found.

The focus group reported really appreciating the added video tutorials and the step by step walk throughs when setting up a specific function. With these adds, users were finally utilizing more features that came with their subscription and continued using TipTree rather than bouncing to a different platform designed only for tip collection.
