Project Overview

This client was a pro-bono website redesign client for Get Fish Slapped. Their previous site was outdated and confusing for parents and students to navigate. I was brought on to improve the overall user experience of the website as well as improve the navigation structure to make their user flows simple.

The site had a lot of information that needed to be reorganized and given a better overall user interface design to help users find the information they needed more efficiently.

I screenshot each page in its entirety and brought that into Figma. I went through the overall structure and noted any confusion and overall user flow issues.

ADA Color Contrast Issues - the previous site used a large video in the background of the home page which created a readability issue.
UX Issues - Poor user flow: the overall structure of the site was confusing. I'd find information expected to be under "Students" placed under "Administration" and so forth.
They had multiple navigations - a horizontal justified and a classic top bar style. This added to navigation confusion for the users.
The teachers pages were chaotic - more than 3 fonts were being used throughout the website, and there was a significant lack of consistency.

I redesigned the site in Figma and began with a wireframe that made better sense of how the navigation and overall structure would go.

I then put together the user interface design and created a CMS to organize their staff. This created consistency with their staff pages and allows them the ability to update their staff easily on the backend.

This site was built in Wix Studio using Velo.
