Website Redesign | UX Design

The owners of Shining Star Doodles needed a site redesign and a brand refresh in order to make their site ADA Compliant and more user-friendly; with the ultimate goal of increasing application submissions for their Doodles. The first step of this project was to assess the current site for UX pitfalls and ADA issues.

Their previous design issues: 

• Readability issues - the site had text overlaying images everywhere; this lead to readability issues for the user. As well as poor color contrast ratios.
• Inconsistent margins and padding - there were sections that spaned the entire page, and sections with little to no padding. This created user-flow issues; it would disrupt the users scroll and hurt the intended flow of the site.
• Usability issue - the "recommended products" section had a hard time loading. The images disappeared randomly or wouldn't appear at all.
• Nav bar UX issue - the nav bar text color was set to "white". This made the text disappear on every other page that wasn't the home page.
• The forms were also a bit confusing and chaotic.

There were a lot of issues with the previous design from a user experience standpoint. I began addressing them by dissecting the site in Figma. Once the wireframe was approved and the new brand was established, we were able to move onto the build.

This site was launched in August 2025 and took 4 weeks from start to finish.
